You can easily reach Rosolina Mare without a car, and with a little planning the journey is part of the holiday: you travel relaxed, watch the Delta landscape change and arrive already on holiday. Here are all the options, with official links to check current timetables, which change every season.
At a glance
- Bus: the Busitalia Veneto line from Rovigo and Adria goes all the way to Rosolina Mare. From Padua you change at Adria (or at Chioggia).
- Train + bus: the reference station is Rosolina (in the town), on the Rovigo–Chioggia line, and from there the bus takes you to the sea.
- Plane: Venice Marco Polo is the most convenient airport; alternatives are Treviso, Verona and Bologna.
- Rental car or private transfer: the most flexible option, especially off-season.
- By bike: the Po Delta is cycling country, with bike-equipped buses in summer.
By bus
From Rovigo and Adria
This is the most direct connection. Busitalia Veneto runs line E601/E680 (Rovigo – Adria – Rosolina Mare), which calls at Adria bus station, serves Rosolina (railway station, centre, Volto) and continues to the seaside. The best stops for the beach are Rosapineta (Piazzale Europa) and the terminus Rosolina Mare.
- In summer a summer line runs more services every day, holidays included.
- In winter service to the seaside is very limited: plan ahead and, if you arrive at an awkward time, arrange a taxi or transfer.
- Suburban bus tickets can also be bought with the DropTicket app.
From Padua
There is no direct bus to Rosolina Mare, but there are two routes, both with Busitalia Veneto:
- Via Adria: bus Padua – Piove di Sacco – Adria (line E604), then change at Adria bus station to line E601/E680. About three hours in total.
- Via Chioggia: bus Padua – Piove di Sacco – Chioggia – Sottomarina (line E005), with frequent services through the day and a little over an hour to Chioggia. From Chioggia take the train to Rosolina station (about 20 minutes), then bus E601/E680 to the sea.
From Venice and Marco Polo Airport
There is no direct bus to Rosolina Mare. From Venice and the airport there are buses to Chioggia and Sottomarina (from the airport, for example, Arriva Veneto): from Chioggia continue by train to Rosolina and then by bus to the sea. Alternatively, Busitalia runs a bus from the airport to Padua, from where the options above apply. Connections change by season: always check the timetables.
Official timetables: Busitalia Veneto – Rovigo suburban timetables (line E601/E680, in Italian), Busitalia Veneto (Padua lines E604 and E005) and ACTV (Venice and Chioggia).
By train
Rosolina station is in the town, not at the beach, on the regional Rovigo–Chioggia line, with connections to Adria, Rovigo and Chioggia. From Bologna you usually change at Rovigo; from Venice and the rest of Veneto often at Rovigo or Adria. From the station continue by the bus described above. Check the up-to-date route on the Trenitalia website.
In summer, on weekends and holidays, the seasonal “Treno del Mare” stops at Rosolina and continues to Chioggia and Sottomarina. Note: it does not go to Rosolina Mare.
By plane
- Venice Marco Polo (VCE): the most convenient, about 1.5 hours by car or transfer.
- Treviso (TSF): low-cost alternative, about 1 hour 20 by car.
- Verona and Bologna: sensible if you arrive from southern or central Italy.
From the airport you can continue by rental car, a pre-booked private transfer, or the buses and trains described above. With luggage and children, a transfer is often the simplest choice. Info: transport to and from Venice Airport.
By bike
Rosolina and Adria are gateways to the Po Delta cycle paths. In summer Busitalia also offers a bookable Bus&Bici service with a trailer to carry your own bike.
Once you arrive
Rosolina Mare is compact: from our apartments the beach is a few minutes’ walk, and shops, pine woods and the Porto Caleri Botanical Garden are a bike ride or short walk away.
